What is to come..... The purpose of this database is to provide online access to a Doberman registry/pedigree to further gather and provide information to aid researchers and approved breeders in understand more about genetic health issues effecting our beloved Dobermans. This site also provides information and links about the diseases affecting Dobermans. You can find links to clinial trials, research articles, suggested diets and supplements, as well has read stories about those who are going to through the fight and making sure to have every moment count. Cardiomyopathy(DCM) and certain Cancers will be of high concern. There is no genetic test for DCM, however some cardio testing (echo/holter) is available for earily detection. Those test in combination with a reliable database can help in improving the breed. There are so many people invovled, those choose to stay with this outstanding breed should not have to face so much heartache. Something needs to be done before Dobermans health concerns get worse! Registries such as here, provide quality data to help researchers look for patterns and evaluate issues such as the mode of ingeritance. It will provide large data samples to help answer questions such as, is the mode of interitance of certain diseases autosomal dominant? If one parent is affected and bred, how many pups are effected? If both parents that are bred are efffected, what is the effect. The larger sample size we are able to provide, will help answer questions and establish reliablity patterns to aid in further reserach and understanding. |
