PyometraPyometra is a condition bacteria is able to enter the uterus and cause an infection. It is very serious and can be life threathing. Treatment must be immediate. The highest risk is 8 weeks after her estrus cycle has ended. There are two types of Pyometera, Open & Closed. Open PyometraIs when the cervix is open, and the infected material can leave the body.Symptoms of Open Pyometra:
Close PyometraIs when the cervix is fully closed and their is no discharge. The pus is not able to exit the body. If left alone, the uterus can rupture leading to a high chance of death.
Most common treatment is an emergency spay. The infected organ is removed. |
